“I am not afraid of storms for I am learning how to sail my ship”

Louisa May Alcott

As a coach I am interested in helping leaders be more effective rather than more knowledgeable. Executive coaching is a creative process. Recognising that you already possess the skills, resources and instincts to be a leader, I work with you to draw on your strengths and apply them in practical environments to achieve desired outcomes.

Executive CoachingMy coaching focus is on leader’s own behaviours and practices. I coach leaders to understand when it is necessary to change their own ways of working or their own behaviour, and to work with them to develop the necessary skills and put them into practice.

My one to one coaching facilitates improved self-awareness, personal growth and changes in attitude or behaviour, helping to develop new perspectives on business strategy and personal outlook.

My coaching experience plus my significant working experience at senior management level allows me to confront and challenge leaders where necessary and appropriate. There can be a need to explore those things that leaders and executives inadvertently do, that can hinder their own progress: patterns of behaviour and default ways of doing things that are often hidden from the executive (often called ‘blind spots’). There are also times when it is necessary to build certain skills, minimise, delegate, or even outsource non-strengths. It may also be helpful to change ineffective thinking patterns or ineffective behaviours.

My aim as executive coach is to help clients to:

  • Clearly identify leadership behaviours that can be built upon to help the executive contribute to greater levels of effectiveness.
  • Increase awareness of blind spots that may reduce success.
  • Leveraging Emotional Intelligence.
  • Provide constructive feedback that redirects behaviors.
  • Identify new behaviors and improvement strategies.
  • Develop action plans to maintain forward movement.

WHAT ARE THE TYPICAL PHASES IN AN ENGAGEMENT?

No two executives are the same, and no two executive coaching engagements are the same. A highly personalised program, goals and areas of improvement are tailored to the executive’s individual strengths, challenges, and tasks for the most impactful results.

Typical phases include:

  • Pre-coaching needs analysis and planning
  • Contracting
  • Data gathering, usually a 360 process, personality profiling and the application of a variety of management and leadership tools.
  • Goal setting
  • Coaching
  • Measuring and reporting results
